Insta-TEST Total Chlorine

Insta-TEST Total Chlorine Test Strips

A fast and convenient way to measure low range levels of total chlorine.  Get reliable results in 10 seconds!

Which form of chlorine do you want to measure?

Free chlorine is a measure of how much chlorine is free and available to sanitise.  That is, how much chlorine has not yet reacted with contaminants in the water and is therefore available to kill harmful bacteria and algae.  Free chlorine occurs in two forms: hypochlorous acid and hypochlorite ion.

Combined chlorine is a measure of chloramines.  Chloramines are the by-products of hypochlorous acid’s reactions with contaminants.  Once hypochlorous acid has ‘combined’ with harmful substances in the water (such as sweat in the case of swimming pool water), chloramines are formed.  Think of them as waste products that need to be removed from the water.  There is no way to directly test for combined chlorine, instead we need to test for total chlorine.

Total chlorine is simply a measure of both free chlorine and combined chlorine.  To work out combined chlorine, subtract your free chlorine reading from your total chlorine reading.

total chlorine – free chlorine = combined chlorine

Watesmo (water detection)

$78.00 (ex GST)

Watesmo Test Paper

For the quick and easy detection of water and water vapor.

The test paper is used to control the leak-tightness of tubing or to detect condensed water. It can also be used to control if sensitive products like electronics come into contact with water. This helps to detect unjustified complaints. In chemical laboratories the test paper is used to control solvents. If the paper remains uncolored after evaporation of the solvent, the solvent is anhydrous. In reactions sensitive to water it can then safely be used. For the detection of water vapor in gas streams the paper is moistened with anhydrous isopropanol. The gas stream is directed on the paper. The presence of water vapor is indicated by a blue color.

On contact with water the Watesmo paper changes color from light blue to dark blue. The reaction is not reversible. Even after drying, the contact with water can clearly be proved.

Ozone in Air Test Strips

$37.00 (ex GST)

Ozone Test Strips

For quick, convenient and reliable onsite ozone testing.  The easy procedure yields accurate results within 10 minutes.

Ozone is a colourless toxic gas. It is irritating to eyes and mucous membranes and can cause respiratory complaints. With ozone concentrations increasing world-wide, especially in the summer time, ozone testing becomes more and more important.

An ozone content of 180 μg/m3 in the air is considered as critical value above which sensitive persons should avoid strong physical exertion. The ozone values published in the media only represent the ozone concentrations in the vicinity of the measuring stations. However, actual ozone values in other locations can deviate considerably from these published values due to meteorological and chemical influences. The reasons for such deviations are for wind, solar radiation, exhaust gases from vehicles etc. For this reason an on-site measurement of ozone concentrations is recommended.

Ozone testing is performed in a wide variety of settings and by multiple different users, such as schools and universities, sports teams, municipal authorities, and regular households. On site ozone testing is especially important prior to physical activity on sunny and hot days. Ozone Test Strips are ideal for the determination of ozone concentrations in air.

Store Ozone Test Strips in a cool, dry place.  Avoid exposure to sunlight and moisture.

AQUATEC

For the quick and easy determination of water in petrol and fuel oil tanks.

Over time water accumulates in petrol and fuel oil storage tanks.  This water forms a layer underneath the fuel.  To measure this layer the PE AQUATEC strip is fixed onto a flat steel sheet so that the lower ends coincide.  It is then lowered into the tank with a cord until it reaches the bottom.  Any water present beneath the fuel will dissolve the blue strip layer (testing time about 15-20 seconds).  The thickness of the water layer corresponds to the colourless part of the strip.

QUANTOFIX Chlorine

$114.00 (ex GST)

QUANTOFIX Chlorine Test Strips

For the quick and easy determination of chlorine in solutions. Includes both test strips and reagents. A reliable result is obtained within 1 minute.

Chlorine is widely used for disinfection of swimming pools, water mains and water reservoirs. Dosed correctly, harmful microorganisms are safely destroyed, many impurities removed and the growth of algae is prevented. Electroplaters use chlorine for the detoxification of cyanide-containing waste.
Regular checking of the chlorine concentration is essential to keep it at the desired level. Excessive chlorine not only impairs the smell and taste of water but can also be hazardous. In water chlorine occurs either free or bound for example as chloramines. Total chlorine is the sum of both levels.

Store QUANTOFIX Chlorine in a cool, dry place.  Avoid exposure to sunlight and moisture.

QUANTOFIX Arsenic Sensitive

For the highly sensitive determination of arsenic in water.

Arsenic is a naturally occurring element found in the Earth’s crust.  In the natural environment it is most frequently present as inorganic arsenic compound in combination with sulphur or oxygen.  Organic arsenic compounds can be used as pesticides.

Arsenic is toxic and causes skin diseases, keratosis and melanoma.  Therefore arsenic levels in drinking water have to be monitored thoroughly.  The World Health Organisation recommends a threshold value for drinking water of 0.01 mg/L.  QUANTOFIX Arsenic Sensitive is an especially sensitive test which can yield results below the WHO limit for arsenic down to 0.005 mg/L.  Potential sulphide interferences have been largely eliminated, which makes the results especially accurate and safe.

QUANTOFIX Arsenic Sensitive comes with test strips , reagents and a rugged carrying case.  A reliable result is obtained within 10 minutes.   Store in a cool, dry place.  Avoid exposure to sunlight and moisture.
